Introduction

We are currently working in close partnership with the Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS)  to bring forward proposals for the Cowal and Trossachs Forest District Wind Farm- Bachan Burn, on land south west of Dunoon.

We have been undertaking a range of feasibility assessments to understand the suitability of the site for wind farm development. We are now able to progress with the comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), which includes bird, mammal, habitat and landscape surveys. This will help us to ensure the Wind Farm will feature a design sensitive to the natural features of the site. The findings of the EIA will be presented as an Environmental Statement (ES), which will be submitted aongside any future planning application.

A Meteorological Mast was erected at the Cowal and Trossachs Forest District Wind Farm- Bachan Burn on the 24th April 2014.

Further detailed information on the project will be available shortly, you can view the current site boundary and the proposed development area, along with the Scoping Report within the downloads section below.

Keeping you informed

We have been working in the local area since late 2013 to gather resident and stakeholder views on the developing proposals. Following an initial drop-in session at the Queens Hall in October 2013, the first round of public exhibitions took place in Dunoon and Bute in March 2014. The information that was on display is available to view below.

As part of the company's consultation process, a second round of public exhibitions are to be held later this year, prior to the submission of the application for consent, which will present findings of environmental studies and display photomontages. Visitors to the exhibitions will also have the opportunity to speak to members of the development team and provide feedback.

A detailed FAQ document has been completed to help inform local residents abouts the proposals to develop the Cowal and Trossachs Forest District Wind Farm- Bachan Burn. The document is available to view in the downloads section below.

We are continuing to explore a range of ways in which to further engage local residents, helping to ensure that community members have the opportunity to view the proposals, provide feedback on the developing proposals and speak to members of the project team.

Local residents are encouraged to call 0131 243 9165 should they have any questions.
