The Scottish Government has a target of generating 100% of Scotland’s gross annual electricity consumption from renewable sources by 2020. To help meet this target, Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) is working to develop the wind power potential of the National Forest Estate. Since 2009, FCS has been selecting development partners to deliver renewable energy from wind farm projects, whilst maximising local community benefits.
We were awarded exclusive rights to investigate the feasibility of new onshore wind energy projects within the Tay, Cowal and Trossachs Forest Districts. We are delighted with our appointment as it demonstrates our commitment to responsible, commercially viable development. Initial assessments have been undertaken and the process of selecting sites for development is underway.
Further information will be added to this website as we progress with our site selection process.
