Edinburgh-based renewable energy company, PNE WIND UK, has reaffirmed its commitment to comprehensive consultation with the local community regarding proposals to develop the Cowal and Trossachs Forest District Wind Farm – Bachan Burn, south west of Dunoon.

PNE has been working in the local area since late 2013 to gather resident and stakeholder views on the developing proposals. Following an initial drop-in session at the Queens Hall in October 2013, the first round of public consultation exhibitions took place in Dunoon and Bute (March 2014).

As part of the company’s consultation process a second round of public exhibitions are to be held later this year, prior to the submission of the application for consent, which will present findings of environmental studies and display photomontages. Visitors to the exhibitions will also have the opportunity to speak to members of the PNE development team and provide feedback.

PNE is continuing to explore a range of further ways in which to engage local residents, including attendance at key local events such as the Cowal Gathering, helping to ensure that community members have the opportunity to view the proposals, provide feedback on the developing plans and speak to members of the PNE team.

A spokesperson for the company outlined:

“PNE WIND UK is committed to comprehensive consultation with the local community and has explored a range of ways in which to engage both statutory consultees and local residents, and to create a constructive environment for discussion.

“We will continue to engage local residents and consultees as our plans progress. I would encourage anyone with an interest in the proposals to contact us directly should they wish to receive a presentation or further information.”

Local residents are encouraged to visit the PNE website for further information or call 0203 128 8938 should they have any questions.
